( these voices won’t leave me alone ) affected greatly by parents’ divorce, as well as a toxic relationship mid-teens. traumatised by manipulation and forced involvement in the resurrection of Peter Hale. suffers severe nightmares as a result of banshee abilities. repeatedly fears that she is responsible for the dead bodies she finds and the constant death surrounding her. fears being left behind or losing her mind like other banshees. struggles with emotional intimacy, often opts for physical relationships, rarely willing to open up to someone enough to be more than that. fear of rejection.history.) pre-supernatural: before having any knowledge of the supernatural, lydia was the shallow Queen Bee at Beacon Hills High School, feigning low intellect among her peers and keeping up an act of a ditsy, spoiled brat. her facade began to fall apart however when she was attacked at the winter formal ( unknowingly receiving the bite from alpha, Peter Hale ). she found herself haunted after the incident and was manipulated by the wolf that bit her, used as a means of bringing him back to life. when supernatural threats arose again, lydia found herself drawn to gruesome murder scenes repeatedly. she learned she was a Banshee ( this was revealed to her during an attempt made on her life ) and decided to use her abilities to try to help save her friends, struggling to understand her complex visions.headcannons.)empath: as well as enduring her abilities as a banshee which force lydia to witness death on a regular basis ( to feel an immense amount of guilt when she is unable to prevent it ), there are occasions when she becomes more involved than intended. at times, her abilities manifest in such a way that lydia is forced to perceive the mental and emotional state of a victim near-death, enduring their agony. screaming already has a physical impact on lydia, causing pain in her throat which can last for days not to mention the mental strain.clothing: contrary to her canon depiction, my depiction of lydia does not alter her fashion sense as she enters her late teens/twenties. she remains partial to floral dresses, skirts and blouses and never wears jeans. personally, I do not know or understand why they did this as I feel like it takes away a lot from her character. people continually underestimate lydia, and assume because of her good looks and ‘girly’ clothing, she is dumb. although this may seem like a frivolous headcannon, i believe that by having her continue the same fashion and not change style as time goes on emphasises the fact that you can be pretty and smart, girly and strong. they’re not mutually exclusive.

verses.with each person i write with i tend to create a variant verse. while my lydia is canon compliant i love exploring alternative universes and extra-canon scenarios, and often i will make an individual verse tag for our specific plot which makes it hard for me to pin down a few generic verses for her. i will do my best to outline the basics, but it’s unlikely I will stick to these few. please feel free to approach me for plotting, i don’t bite and I’m up for anything! ♡canon: everything as in the show. post-high school, lydia attends MIT, entering at an advanced year and going between Boston and Beacon Hills during her studies. she progresses quickly, knowing more than can be taught and ending up supplying research for the lecturers (when she isn’t returning to assist her friends in Beacon Country).the vampire diaries: smells like teen spirit. ( this can also double as a Legacies verse, although I have yet to watch the show.) lydia is still a banshee in this verse and at some point either during high school or her studies at MIT travels to Virginia. her interest in the supernatural happenings is as a result of the high mortality rate in Mystic Falls, something she feels the moment she crosses over the town line. often i envision her as travelling here alongside Stiles Stilinski. given that vampires are not of the living, like witches she can sense the aura of death around a vampire. she will not necessarily know about vampires ( or hybrids, etc. ) depending on where she is in her research. upon discovering their existence however, she is quick to compile the information necessary to defend herself, retaining vervain on her person at all times. ( the same curiosity could bring her to Forks in a Twilight verse )college: i’m done with high school boys. instead of meeting at Beacon Hills, the characters are set in a college au. it is a human au unless specifically plotted otherwise. at age 18 or so, lydia is still human and has had no interaction with the supernatural. she therefore remains the same spoilt, queen bee, enjoying her life at the top of the social ladder at college.FBI: special agent martin. in this verse lydia works as a detective with the bureau. it is a human au unless specifically plotted otherwise. her high level of intellect assures her skill in this field and a quick progression through the academy. her work is her focussed, with few friendships and relationships that are purely physical. few could crack the cold exterior she puts up. the detective keeps information about herself close to her chest, few aware that during her first month out of the academy she was taken hostage by Peter Hale ( in this verse possibly a member of a mafia ).scream franchise: what’s your favourite scary movie? this can be set in either the movie or television series verse, or a combination of both plot lines. it is a human au unless specifically plotted otherwise. lydia’s intellect would make her instrumental in figuring out the identity of the killer.IT: the haunting is real. lydia’s abilities draw her to Derry, that decrepit place that emanates death. she can sense the mourning that clings to the Losers’ Club, especially Beverley whose gift she sees as a variation of her own abilities and premonitions.void!lydia: don’t say it’s unholy. lydia, either through manipulation or possession is coerced by the Nogitsune to aid him in his desire for destruction.wolf!lydia: tbd.
